Every character must be an adult. Appearance options do not authorize recreating a real person's likeness. Reference-photo uploads are not supported for copying a person.
Write a role, personality and scenario
Begin with the role and a few traits that can be demonstrated in conversation. Give the character a goal in the current scene. Put background facts where they help explain behavior, rather than repeating the same adjective in every field.
Rowan is a 30-year-old archivist who is precise, quietly funny, and curious about local history. A parcel containing an unsigned map arrives just before closing. Rowan asks the visitor whether they recognize its destination.
The role explains the vocabulary, the traits suggest a voice, and the parcel supplies a next action. Test how the character answers before adding more instructions.
Give the greeting a next step
A greeting can describe one action and ask one question. Leave the other participant's thoughts and decisions open. Try the same short test scene after each meaningful edit so you can see what changed.
Keep a copy of your definition before a substantial revision. Adding more detail is not always an improvement if new instructions contradict the role or the opening situation.
Visibility, sharing and review
Use the character's Edit controls in My AI to inspect Private, Unlisted and Public visibility. Review requirements apply to a public submission. A copied character-chat link should display the intended profile rather than a generic site preview.
Public visibility affects more than discovery: media from public characters can enter a community pack. Read chat and generation visibility before sharing. Public review has a queue; avoid promising an exact approval time from an older estimate.
